Our new shelter kitten has an eye infection. I am using eye ointment. I am worried about my 2 kids catching it. What Cat Illnesses are contagious to humans?

In general, I do not think you would need to worry about your kids catching the eye infection from your new kitten. Just be sure to keep the kittens eye clean and have your kids wash their after handling the kitten. We have had many foster kittens with eye infections and the young child that lives with me has not had any problems. We are careful about hand washing and we keep hand sanitizer handy for quick use.
