Elina and Marjorie separate themselves from the other girls in the house when they continue to blame their issues on being immigrants. The other girls in the house don’t seem to understand and feel like the two have had a sufficient amount of time to adjust to the American way of life.
Sheena calls Elina a hypocrite for posing in a holiday spread when she is an Atheist who doesn’t believe in holidays. The following morning, there is a whole lot of silent treatment in the Top Model house. Despite being sick, Joslyn heads to film her Cover Girl commercial along with the other girls and cycle 10 winner Whitney Thompson was on hand to help prepare the girls. Because previous contestants have struggled in the past with the memorization of lines, the cycle 11 girls are given a teleprompter.

At panel, Tyra pulls out a pair of clogs and tells the girls that they’ll first have to prove that they can walk in anything. While most of the girls pull it off as well as they could, Samantha struggles, even falling over at one point. Tyra then reveals that the models that make it through tonight’s panel will be headed to Amsterdam and mayhem ensues with the Harris twins twirling around in costumes while the girls jump up and down, screaming.
The judges like the performances in the Cover Girl commercials from Analeigh (which Tyra calls the best commercial in the history of the show) and Sheena. While Samantha, Marjorie, Joslyn, McKey, and Elina fail to impress. After deliberating with the other judges, Tyra calls out the names of the girls who will move on to Amsterdam.
“Seven beautiful young women stand before me, but I only have six photos in my hands,” Tyra intones. She calls Analeigh, Sheena, Samantha, Marjorie and McKey. Joslyn and Elina step forward. The girl who is still in the running towards becoming America’s Next Top Model is……Elina. She has a minor panic attack because she thought she was going home. But Joslyn is eliminated from the competition.
So now the girls are off on their Abroad Adventure and I am happy that we should be getting back to a photo shoot soon. See you in Amsterdam!
My photo shot reviews.
Analeigh definitely redeemed herself from her lackluster photos. Her smarts came in handy this episode. She was the only one to use the make-up itself, and she was cute and natural in her performance.
I agreed with the judges that
Sheena did well, too. While her performance was a bit more girl-from-the-block, Jaslene Gonzales rode that persona into a win, so it goes to show that being a Cover Girl no longer means being middle-of-the-road.
I also thought that
Samantha did better than the judges gave her credit for.
And while
Joslyn’s giggle is, certainly, disconcerting, her final performance was about one-tenth as campy and over the top as any of last cycle winner Whitney Thompson’s performances in her season. I agree that Joslyn’s photo performance has been weakening over the past few weeks, and she has seemed to be on her way out. Nevertheless, it seemed especially unfair to boot her in an episode that had scenery-chewer Whitney guest-starred in.
Okay, now I’m a supporter of the awkward girl, but
Marjorie, come on. Get yourself together. I don’t blame a girl for being nervous – I sure would be too – but it does seem, to Mr. Jay’s point, that she relies on others too much to help talk her down. She might not achieve a poised demeanor, but it does seem like she could try to cover it up a bit more than she does.
Elina might not make it much farther in the America’s Next Top Model competition, but I do have to say that her controlled deadpan serious demeanor makes her seem like an ideal TV newscaster. The way she talks reminds me of The Chenbot – Big Brother’s Julie Chen.
McKey…um, yikes. She’s so gorgeous, I don’t really care (I am, again, all about the photos). But this commercial was a disaster. I was surprised. I didn’t think she would be the best at it, but I didn’t expect that kind of weird diva thing she was doing. Now here’s a case of nerves, but at least she tried something. It didn’t work, but I think her attempts will, in the long run, win her more favor with the judges’ than Marjorie’s constant capitulation to her anxiety.

I was so scared when Elina was the bottom two this week… I was so scared that she might be eliminated… luckily she wasn’t!!! I think she still has a chance!!!
Sheena… I think she did ok too.. but I just HATE her… I hate her personality… it is so trashy… I am ashamed because she is an Asian too… She should be ashamed of herself!!! And I bet she will do well in the next episode when she has to pose in the red light district.. that is where she belongs!!!!

Aband Brother… I agree with you that Analeigh has the best potential at this point.. she is doing better every week!!! Everyone else keep falling little by little every week.. and she is the only one that is improving and she is not as bitchy as other girls… so it should be good for her to win!!!!

Oops…sorry… I had been writing a paper about morphology… and it was pretty stressful… sorry about that!!!!
Joslyn… I dont really like her that much probably because of her voice.. it just drives me crazy… and she has big motion… and that is not very pretty…
And I agree with you about slapping Sheena because Sheena has no respect on anyone… and she really needs to learn a lesson!!! She can’t pretend to be a nice girl in front of the judges and be herslef (bitchy & trashy) when they are not around!!!
